I could smell the aroma of freshly baked bread by Solace Bukit Bintang from across the street! With a homey vibe and photo-worthy food and drinks, Solace is the latest brunch hotspot.
Ambience & Amenities
Solace is a beautiful and bright space. Glass panels on the ceiling let in tons of natural light. A tree grows in the middle of the room, making it feel like you’re dining in a greenhouse. There’s more seating on the patio and an entire second floor to the cafe.
The washrooms are behind the rolling wooden door on the ground floor. There are two separate rooms with a toilet and sink. With how many people dine here, don’t be surprised if there’s a queue for the toilets.

The Solace Bukit Bintang menu is brunch central. Sourdough is everywhere – bagels, pizza, and open-faced sandwiches in the “Sourdough Parade.” Don’t forget to check the pastries at the front counter, which are not on the menu. The cafe also sells random artisan goods, such as jam and cookies, at the front of the cafe.
The speciality drinks menu at Solace is sure to catch attention. Ten colourful beverages stand out from the page, with more unique coffee creations below them. If you don’t feel like spending RM15 for a drink, Solace offers free filtered water. We got a large bottle once we sat down.
Food at Solace Bukit Bintang
We ordered some of the least picturesque drinks, but they were the meal’s highlight. The Sawadee Cloud (RM15.90) is an elevated version of the well-loved Thai milk tea with a buttery flavour from the cheesefoam. The Honeycomb Toffee Iced Chocolate (RM18.90) is a must-try. It’s so hard to find a decent chocolate drink that doesn’t taste like chalky Milo powder. This iced chocolate beverage had strong toffee notes with the richness of dark chocolate. There was a little extra golden sweetness once the honeycomb fully dissolved.
The I Ducking Love You (RM34.50) is cleverly named and expertly constructed. The peaches were unexpected – not super sweet like the canned variety, but with only a hint of subtle honeyed flavour. The combination with the duck put up an interesting flavour combination. Though the duck breast was succulent, the skin and fat were hard to cut. I needed to constantly reassemble the ingredients whilst eating. There also wasn’t nearly enough pineapple jam for it to have an impact. This dish isn’t one I’d order again.
The Neopolitan Anchovy (RM36.50) has that authentic char and texture from the clay pizza oven behind the counter. The crust along the perimeter is puffy and moderately thick. The pizza base is thin but stable enough to pick it up with my hands. There’s a generous helping of cheese and a decent amount of toppings, except for the anchovies. It seemed like there was only one anchovy per slice. Overall, it was an above-average pizza and one of the better ones you can get in a cafe.
Saturday Worthy?
Solace Bukit Bintang is a pricey lunch, especially with the fancy drinks. We would totally return for that pizza and the honeycomb iced chocolate, though. If you can spare the expense, you can get good food and attractive pictures at Solace.
