Breakfast Thieves, now with alcohol!
Snitch by the Thieves is the baby of another wildly popular cafe, the nearby Breakfast Thieves in APW (A Place Where). It has a completely different menu from its parent cafe but retains the same Australian influence. To set itself apart, Snitch focuses on all-day Malaysian favourites and also has a full bar menu.
Ambience & Amenities
Snitch has a wide lot at the edge of The Gardens Mall on level 3. The indoor dining room is less industrial than Breakfast Thieves but is nothing special. If you can stand the heat, the outdoor patio is more interesting and has a view depending on where you sit. One high table at the edge overlooks the courtyard between the two malls. At night, the fountain comes alive with songs and lights.
There is no toilet in the restaurant, but there is a handwashing sink. The sink behind the cake chiller is open to guests even though it’s in the employee’s area. There was hand soap but no paper towels to dry hands with. If you need a toilet, exit the restaurant and turn left at the nearest escalators. The washrooms are at the end of the mall next to the Isetan.
Menu at Snitch By The Thieves
Snitch By The Thieves menu has all-day cuisine. Many of the usual pasta, rice or breakfast dishes are elevated with premium ingredients like wagyu, duck, or soft-shell crab. The food at Snitch is pork-free, but the restaurant serves alcohol. The Happy Hour special goes from 11 am until 6 pm. There are large brown bottles of free water for guests.

Food at Snitch By The Thieves
The Explosive Nasi Goreng (RM39) includes a huge tiger prawn and a squid cut into three sections, all smothered in sambal. The squid was slightly rubbery and required some effort to cut through. As expected, the kampung rice was the star of this dish – highly flavourful and not too soft or mushy. I didn’t like the soupy texture of the tamarind tomato salsa, but the taste was okay. The dish was so large that I couldn’t finish, so when it came time to leave something behind, it was the papadums and the salsa.
The Yakuza (RM42) comes with a grand total of two onion rings (the menu didn’t technically lie!) but a generous helping of fat fries. I did my girlfriend duty of stealing as many as I could eat, but there was still lots left over for Mark. The burger had the succulence of wagyu beef. The chilli con carne wasn’t spicy – all the heat came from the jalapenos – but it did add to the burger’s overall juiciness. The brioche bun was good, but the bottom half was quite wet as we neared the last of the burger.
Saturday Worthy?
Snitch is too pricey for lunch, even with the big portions. With the full bar, it feels like more of a dinner place anyway. There are some complaints online about the service at Snitch. Aside from half the bar menu being unavailable, I didn’t notice anything wrong about the service. We make regular trips to Mid Valley, so I could see us revisiting Snitch by the Thieves if we’re in the mood. It’s one of the few mall restaurants that serves alcohol and this kind of cuisine.
