The Sandwich Bar, Ubud

Posted on By The Perpetual Saturday No Comments on The Sandwich Bar, Ubud

The ultimate place to indulge in food stuffed between bread or for vegans to satisfy their “meat” cravings!

The Sandwich Bar Bali, Best restaurants in Ubud

The Sandwich Bar in the heart of Ubud is for anyone who loves greasy meat between two slices of bread. Even vegans don’t need to miss out. The Sandwich Bar has a wide array of meat-like but completely vegan dishes.

Ambience & Amenities

The interior of The Sandwich Bar Ubud is nothing special. There are a handful of wooden tables with bench seating along the back wall. The air conditioning is pretty weak, so it took us longer than usual to cool off after coming inside from the sweltering Ubud afternoon sun. There are more tables on the patio where diners can watch Ubud denizens stroll along.

There is a toilet in the back corner of the restaurant, where the mural of the Balinese dancer is. The facilities were clean and stocked with toilet paper. The handwashing sink was next to the bar counter. There were soap and paper towels to dry hands.

Menu

Every type of sandwich is on the menu at The Sandwich Bar – toasties, Bahn Mi, and sweet sandos on a variety of bread. Is a burger a sandwich? That’s debatable, but they’re on the menu too. Despite the restaurant’s name, The Sandwich Bar’s menu is more than things between two pieces of bread. There’s lighter salads, brunch dishes and many completely vegan options that use “Off Meat.” As stated on the menu, water is free.

The Chorizo & Cheese Fries (Rp. 58,000) are a relatively small serving. It was loaded with chorizo for such a small amount of fries, though. We intended to share this dish, but this is clearly supposed to be an individual serving.

The Sandwich Bar Review Ubud Bali

The Next Level Dirty (Rp. 95,000) burger wasn’t as epically large as the menu picture made it out to be. This burger is swimming in sauce and mayo, but the brioche bun did a great job of holding up and never got unpleasantly soggy. The beef patty was moist, but there wasn’t a huge mess of leaking, dripping juices while eating it. The Next Level Dirty is a yummy burger for not a bad price, even in Malaysian currency.

Saturday Worthy?

We ate at The Sandwich Bar twice during our short stay in Ubud. I was having FOMO about leaving Bali and never eating some of the food here. The menu is simply mouthwatering, and we wanted to try almost everything. If we lived in Ubud, this place would be one of our regular haunts.
