Ten different flavours to please any souffle pancake lover!
There’s something about biting into a cloud that’s so appealing! Soft Cloud Dessert Cafe at the Verve Shops is the ultimate spot for souffle pancakes in Mont Kiara. There are ten different flavours, but this cafe is not just about those palatable pillows of pleasure. With Belgian waffles and indulgent beverages, Soft Cloud is a haven for anyone with a serious sweet tooth.
Ambience & Amenities
Soft Cloud Dessert Cafe is a rather large space. There’s some bench seating along the coloured wall and at the back of the restaurant. The rest of the tables and chairs are simple wood and metal. There are three more tables on the small patio outside.
Soft Cloud is not for impatient people or anyone who needs to be somewhere. The restaurant is very explicit in the wait time for their pancakes. The restaurant told me three times in different mediums that the souffle pancakes take twenty to thirty minutes. We had to order at the counter and pay upfront. I guess Soft Cloud had problems in the past with too many hangry folks walking out because the food was taking “too long.”
There is no toilet inside the cafe. Guests at Soft Cloud Dessert Cafe will have to use the Verve Shops washrooms. Exit the restaurant and turn left. Turn left again at the elevators, and the toilets will be down the corridor on the left.
Menu
It’s obvious that the pancakes are the thing to order, but there are also Belgian waffles and trifles rounding out the menu. Filtered water is free. Guests can help themselves at the tap on the right side of the cafe in front of the counter.

Food
The Strawberry Smoothie (RM13) isn’t what I would call a smoothie. Smoothies usually contain milk or yogurt. This beverage was more like a slushie. It tasted like only two ingredients – blended strawberries and ice. There were chunks of real strawberry once I got to the bottom of my glass.
Mark isn’t a huge fan of souffle pancakes, but it seems silly to order anything but Soft Cloud’s signature item. The Fresh Fruits Souffle Pancake (RM22) is a lighter version of the original souffle pancakes. True to its name, it’s a very fresh option. There’s no ice cream and only two pancakes instead of three. There was a pot of honey and a dollop of thick cream to add extra sweetness where needed. Mark hadn’t eaten much before we arrived here, and he was sure this dish wouldn’t be enough food. However, after we finished eating, the cakes expanded in his belly, and he was decently full even with just two pancakes.
The Matcha Adzuki Bean Souffle Pancake (RM24) came with a tall whirl of matcha soft serve ice cream. There were also eight pieces of Korean tubular rice cakes, like a sweet Tteokbokki. I like matcha, but this pancake is a matcha overload. The pancakes are already swimming in matcha sauce. Then there’s the matcha soft-serve and the extra jug of matcha sauce. My bites were very samey, broken up with just some red bean flavour now and then.
We weren’t given any knives, but the pancakes were so soft that we could cut them with just our forks. It’s a good pancake, but I think I prefer the souffle pancakes at Coffee Stain. These just don’t feel as soft, and there’s a strong egg flavour if you take a bite of plain pancake. If you order an option with a topping (like the matcha), the egg taste isn’t as noticeable
Saturday Worthy?
We will return to Soft Cloud Dessert Cafe when I’m in the mood for souffle pancakes. They’re a lot of food at a pretty good price. It’s a serious sugar rush to eat here, though. There’s nothing remotely savoury on the menu to balance out all the sugar, so it will be a rare occasion.
