The perfect place for brownie lovers

Jeng’s Homemade Brownies has made a name for themselves in Kota Kinabalu. Their delectable brownies come in a wide range of flavours and are made with pure cocoa proudly sourced from Malaysia. Jeng’s has amassed an impressive following on their social media accounts, and this humble little bakery has become a local success story.

Ambience & Amenities

Jeng’s Homemade Brownies in Centre Point Sabah shopping mall is the brand’s flagship outlet. It is a very small shop not meant for dine-in. There are a couple of basic chairs against the wall, but the only table in the bakery is filled with clutter. While it’s easy to eat a brownie without a table, Jeng’s is more suited to take away your purchases. There is no toilet in the tiny shop, and visitors will have to use the public mall facilities.

One of the highlights of Jeng’s Homemade Brownies is their selection of brownie flavours. There are about a dozen different flavours daily, including blueberry cheesecake, tropical caramel blondie, salted peanut butter and more. Aside from brownies, Jeng’s also does baklava and roti bakar. At the front of the shop, there’s a cute stall with Jeng’s Oden, the brand’s expansion into the beloved comfort food.

Bottom: blueberry cheesecake, buttermilk, chocolate cheesecake

Honestly, I’ve had better brownies. Jeng’s brownies were kind of dry and thin and didn’t have a satisfying bite to them. The creamy cheesecake brownies were a little better. Don’t expect the really rich, dense brownies that you get from other cafes (at a much higher price). Despite the taste being nothing special, we bought brownies from Jeng’s a couple of times during our stay in KK. Jeng’s Homemade Brownies are still a nice sweet treat for a cheap price.
