Better than Cinnabon?
There’s nothing like the smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls! Homebaker@Clover is a chain of artisan cinnamon roll bakers. Their soft fluffy rolls are baked daily in small batches and smothered with delectable cream cheese icing. There are currently twenty different toppings, with more varieties likely to come in the future.
Ambience & Amenities
Homebaker at Clover has several sites across West Malaysia. We went to the location in Putrajaya’s Precinct 2 after lunch at Karyabhara The Hipster Cafe. Homebaker’s cafe at the Suasana PJH Building is a clean, basic space with lots of natural light. There is one cosy table by the faux brick wall that feels like you’re sitting in someone’s home with a couch, throw pillows and a rug. There is no toilet inside the cafe, but I think there is a public washroom within Suasana PJH.
Menu
Homebaker@Clover’s menu only has drinks, sweet pastries and bagels. They also have multipacks where you can pick from any of the twenty flavours on their menu. If there’s a flavour that is not in the display cabinet, ask the counter staff. There’s a good chance they can quickly make one for you since there are tubs of plain cinnamon rolls ready to be glazed.

Food
Mark got the Peanut Butter (RM6.50) cinnamon roll. He really liked this one and bought two more for the multipack we took home. The creamy peanut butter fuses nicely with the sweet icing, and the chopped peanuts provide a crunch to the soft roll.
I wanted a simple flavour that didn’t overwhelm the pastry’s taste, but I also wanted something fancier than the original glaze. The Banana Walnut (RM6.50) was a good choice to fill that craving. There’s a ribbon of banana-flavoured syrup to give the requisite banana flavour. The banana walnut is an upgraded “plain” flavour that we both liked so much that we also put two of these in our multipack.
We bought a box of 8 rolls to take home and it cost us RM54 (I got one Biscoff roll, which cost more). We took them out of the box once we got home and put them in plastic food storage containers. Even after a week in the fridge like this, the rolls still tasted as if they were fresh after warming them up in the microwave.
Saturday Worthy?
It’s hard to find a quality cinnamon roll made by an independent baker. I’ve found that others were always too dry and never had enough icing. Homebaker@Clover is almost better than Cinnabon because of the variety of flavours and toppings they offer. The only thing keeping us from visiting again is that their cafes in KL and Selangor are a bit too far from us.
