A new weekend market to eat, shop and hang out in Mont Kiara

Finally, a community market comes to Mont Kiara! The pretty but useless rooftop at Sunway 163 Mall (formerly 163 Retail Park) has stood unused for too long. Now, on the last two weekends of the month, the space comes alive with vendors, the smell of good food and crowds of neighbourhood locals.

The “Mont Kiara Peeps” rooftop market has free entry and is pet-friendly. It’s a great new community gathering spot, with benches and blankets spread across the grassy area for groups to relax, socialise and graze.
Mont Kiara Community Rooftop Market Hours

Friday: 5 pm – 10 pm
Sat & Sun: 12 pm – 10 pm
The rooftop market only operates on the last two weekends of every month.
Stalls at the Sunway 163 Rooftop Community Market

The Mont Kiara Peeps Community Market reminded me of the one I’ve seen on the roof of LaLaport BBCC. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is the same organiser. The kiosks are organised and visually appealing. Food stalls are king, but many tables sell crafts and non-edible items.

Come hungry and uncaffeinated! There are a plethora of different coffee, beverage, and snack stalls to try out at the Mont Kiara rooftop market. Some standouts include claypot coffee, a chocolate fountain with mixed fruit, and steamed buns in sweet and savoury varieties.

I was excited to see a bagel stall with Japanese-inspired flavours. I’m a huge bagel lover and feel like the round pastry is sorely under-represented in Mont Kiara.

Aside from food, there are the standard offerings one can expect from pop-up markets, such as homemade candles, jewellery, accessories, and overly cute handicrafts that fall under “wants” instead of “needs.” For the kids, I saw a face painting booth and geckos in open-top cases for sale.

If you spot something you like, don’t pass it up or take it for granted! I’m pretty sure that the stalls change on a rotating basis. A vendor here one month might be gone the next, and something else will take its place.
Saturday Worthy?

We’re already looking forward to the next market. We’re eager to see what’s new and if any stalls we liked will return. If you’re a resident of Mont Kiara or just like to hang out here, it’s worth checking out. Even if you don’t buy anything, chilling on a blanket is a fine way to pass some time.
