A truly naughty treat!
If you’re the type of person who feels bad about drinking way too early in the day, this place is for you. LaLaPop is the latest offshoot from Frozen, the popular upscale Bangsar ice creamery. This eye-catching ice creamery on LaLaport Mall’s Gourmet Street has an impressive twelve different flavours that contain alcohol. Whatever your favourite tipple is, LaLaPop has made ice cream with it.
Menu
Everything under the “Notti” category contains liquor of some kind and is the same price at RM15.90. Unlike the “Nice” flavours, there are no premium surcharges for alcoholic flavours.
Ice Cream Review
The lady at the counter was eager to give me samples. After a tough decision, I chose the Whisky Salted Caramel (RM15.90). LaLaPop doesn’t seem to have cones at this time, so all of their ice creams come in a cup.
For alcoholic ice cream, the texture is incredibly soft and creamy. It did not have that hardness of ice cream that has been frozen for days. The bourbon was very present and not just a finishing note. I could definitely taste it in every spoonful. Compared to the other alcoholic flavours I sampled, the Whisky Salted Caramel was sweeter but still not as sweet as regular salted caramel ice cream. Little chunks of unexpected toffee sponge provided a welcome crunch to the super soft ice cream.
Saturday Worthy?
LaLaPop has a very tempting and innovative menu, but next time I will stick to the non-alcoholic flavours. I love sucking down all sorts of spirits as much as the next drunkard, but even I couldn’t fully get into the taste of the alcoholic ice cream. I tried a sample of the Iced Sicilian and the BBB, and I was not keen to eat an entire scoop. The Notti flavours just seem gimmicky and don’t taste as good as regular ice cream.
