It’s no exaggeration, they serve “Damn Good Coffee!”
Kaffe Kop is an underrated, hidden gem in Shah Alam’s SACC Mall. Passersby stumble in for a cup of coffee and get pleasantly blown away, and fanatic regulars trickle in for cheesecake and a chat with the owner. Although the cafe has a modest location at an unextraordinary mall, everything that Kaffe Kop serves far exceeds expectations in its presentation and taste.
Ambience & Amenities
Kaffe Kop is in a corner of the SACC Mall on level 2. Faux brick and dark wood make this cafe feel very cosy, and the warm, dim lights soften the one concrete wall. One could spend their entire meal looking at all the decor on the walls: quirky sign plates, knickknacks and handwritten notes on napkins from beloved regulars.
There is no toilet in the cafe. There is a sink with soap behind the counter that we were free to use. Exit the cafe and walk straight to the end of the corridor to get to the nearest mall washrooms.

The Kaffe Kop menu is short and sweet, with only about a dozen food options. This cafe opens late in the morning (and on Fridays, after 3 pm for prayers), so many of the dishes are appropriate for brunch. There’s also a short list of cheesecakes on offer at the counter. Large jugs of filtered water are free for guests.
Food at Kaffe Kop
I got the open-faced Truffle Mushroom Sandwich (RM24). Sauteed button mushrooms and cherry tomatoes were piled high on two slices of sourdough. The glass on the side was truffle-infused oil. After I poured it onto the halves, the taste became incredibly rich. The sourdough was more than merely a vessel – it was noteworthy in its own right.
Although the Ribeye Sandwich (RM32) was two sandwiches, the filling was thin. Two small eaters could probably share this dish, but it was a good amount of food for Mark. The ribeye beef was tender and separated easily with our bites. There was a smear of mustard inside the bread, but the flavours got way better when we added the truffle oil. Both of our meals came with sour cream rippled chips and a sprig of coral lettuce with sesame dressing. Mark also got an Americano (RM8) and stressed that it was a great cup of coffee. Apparently, the declaration on the exterior wasn’t an exaggeration.
Saturday Worthy?
Our lunch at Kaffe Kop was more expensive than we expected. The prices were on par with Mont Kiara cafes, but the food quality was also at that level. For an unassuming cafe that was completely dead during the height of lunch, everything we ate was delicious. If Kaffe Kop was in Mont Kiara, we’d likely eat here all the time.
