An underrated place to drink
This restaurant and bar cleverly takes its name from the place where busy birds settle down and congregate. Nestled between the Bangsar Village shopping centres, ROOST prides itself on using locally sourced ingredients where possible, its motto being “from farm to fork.” There are loads of places to drink in Bangsar, but Roost is one of the few that stays classy: no loud music, no sports on the TV, and no lighting so dim you can’t even see who you’re sitting with.
Ambience & Amenities
Roost is a large space with lots of dark wood pieces. Still, it never feels too oppressive in the dining room thanks to the bright windows along the wall. There are more tables on the patio outside, entirely covered in case of rain. Our favourite spot is the high chairs in the diagonal corner, which overlooks the busy road between the Bangsar Village malls.
The washrooms are near the front door, past the kitchen. There are two self-contained rooms. The room I used was spacious, with a sitting toilet and the sink area separated by a half-wall. There was soap and paper, with extra rolls easily visible on the shelf. It must have been the women’s, because there were small containers stocked with Q-tips, cotton pads and most thoughtfully, panty liners – a very attentive and classy touch, if I may say so myself.
Menu

Roost’s food menu is only one page, with the majority being small tapas plates. Eating a full meal here would cost a pretty penny – as much as an upscale bistro. We like to come to Roost to drink as there’s a decent selection of cocktails. The prices aren’t too bad during the daily Happy Hour between 12 pm and 7 pm. Don’t miss the beer board at the bar to get a list of Roost’s craft brews of the moment. Filtered water is free and comes in a big jug.
Drinks
We’ve tried about half of Roost’s cocktails now, but there aren’t any particular standouts. I don’t think Roost skimps on the alcohol, though. My head was faintly muddled after two drinks, and I’m no lightweight either.
Saturday Worthy?
Roost is an easy choice with friendly waiters and our favourite seat always available. I don’t know if we can ever brace our wallets to eat here, but we’ve indulged in Happy Hour at Roost on multiple occasions. The drink prices are just right for us, and it’s such a chill place.
