Mill Bakery Cafe, Desa Sri Hartamas

Posted on By The Perpetual Saturday No Comments on Mill Bakery Cafe, Desa Sri Hartamas

A consistently good Hartamas cafe with big, tasty portions.

Mill Bakery Cafe Desa Sri Hartamas, Cheap cafes near Sri Hartamas

Though Desa Sri Hartamas comes alive at night, Mill Bakery Cafe is a quiet spot where people can work on their laptops while enjoying a meal. This two-storied cafe also has fresh buns, bread and cakes for an on-the-go snack.

Ambience & Amenities

Mill Bakery Cafe Hartamas

Mill Bakery Cafe has a lot of options for seating. There is a small patio out front. There are a few tables on the main floor between the windows and the bakery section. The upper floor is our preferred place, with booths and an upper patio protected by an awning.

There is a washroom on the top floor of the cafe. At the top of the stairs, turn left. There is a separate stall for men and women. The women’s stall was a clean, spacious room with a sitting toilet and paper. The communal sink area was bare-bones on this day, and there was no soap even when we mentioned it to the staff. We’ve been here before, and the toilets were in better shape.

Menu

Mill Bakery Cafe has a varied menu of mostly western food. If that’s the food you’re craving, it’s easy to find something you want to eat at this cafe. The buns and cakes in the bakery section downstairs make for a worthwhile dessert afterwards. Water is free. There is a dispenser on the upper floor next to a machine containing clean cups. I never eat in the downstairs dining area, but I’m sure there’s a similar setup there too.

Mill Bakery Cafe review, Bakery cafes in KL

We got a Flat White (RM12) and a Strawberry Smoothie (RM15) to drink. This coffee is a much larger flat white than what you’d get at other cafes, so prepare yourself for the caffeine overload. The smoothie had lots of strawberry flavour and was incredibly thick for the first few sips.

Mark has ordered the Avocado Chicken Sandwich (RM25) on multiple occasions. The shredded chicken is easy to eat, and there’s a sweetness from the honey mustard. There is tons of avocado in this – way more than you’d get in avocado dishes at other restaurants. The crusty sourdough bread gives a crisp to balance out the mushiness of the avocado. Both sandwiches came with golden shoestring fries and a ramekin of sweet chilli sauce.

The Beef Onion Sandwich (RM25) is massively tall. Instead of having the salad on the side like the avocado chicken sandwich, Mill Bakery has stuffed all the veg into the sandwich. It was a bit messy to eat, with ingredients sliding around all over the place and having to unhinge my jaw to take a bite. Although the sandwich was half salad veg, the bacon and cheese shined through and were the dominant flavours. The fried onions, unfortunately, got a little mushy and didn’t give a satisfying crunch. They kind of disappeared in the sandwich, and I didn’t even notice they were there.

    Saturday Worthy?

We keep returning to Mill Bakery Cafe because it’s a reliable cafe in Sri Hartamas. The portions are decent, and the food is always great. Perhaps I’m used to the costs at Mont Kiara restaurants, but the prices at this cafe are good value for the quality and how much you get. It almost feels suspiciously cheap to me, but the dishes are tasty, so whatever. I hope Mill Bakery Cafe stays for a long while so we can keep coming back.

    Price for 2 Pax: RM77.00

    Avocado Chicken Sandwich: RM25.00
    Beef Onion Sandwich: RM25.00
    Strawberry Smoothie: RM15.00
    Flat White: RM12.00
