A homestyle bakery next to the Kota Damansara Forest Reserve
Dapur Yongs is a humble little bakery at Condo De Rozell serving fresh bakery buns, loaf bread and donuts. Although it’s not worth a trip just to eat here, it is a decent option for a quick and cheap breakfast before hiking in the Kota Damansara Forest Reserve.
How To Get to Dapur Yongs
Dapur Yongs is inside the Condo De Rozelle complex on the west side of the Kota Damansara Forest Reserve. Tell the guardhouse you are visiting the bakery. The cafe is to the left of the main entrance.
Ambience & Amenities
This small cafe does not have any indoor seating. Dapur Yongs likely gets takeaway customers mostly, but they do have a small dining area in front of the cafe. There’s no vibe, just plastic chairs on grey concrete by the road.
There is no toilet in the cafe. Guests will have to use the public facilities at Condo De Rozelle. Walk back towards the main entrance. When you see a small restaurant on your left, turn in to head deeper into the complex. From here, you should see the signs for the toilets on the pool deck. The washrooms were grim and dirty. There was no paper in the stalls, so take some from the bakery with you. Although it did have sitting toilets, and there was soap at the sink.
Menu at Dapur Yongs
Dapur Yongs’ small menu includes all-day breakfast and a few mains, mostly pizza and pasta. The shelves across from the register are stocked with freshly baked buns, perfect to take as a hiking snack in Kota Damansara. Dapur Yongs also bakes up Roti Paung, the fluffy pull-apart bread popular in Terengganu and East Malaysia. I was very interested in their donuts, but they get served in the mid-afternoon, around 2 pm. Filtered water costs RM1, but if you should already have some in your pack if you are going hiking.

Food at Dapur Yongs
We both got a lempeng, a Malaysian pancake. These take about fifteen minutes to fry up, so don’t order them if you’re in a hurry. The Abah Lempeng (RM5) is the plain version with sardine sambal. The Lempeng Kelapa (RM6) has shredded coconut in the dough with anchovy sambal on the side.
Both lempengs had a soft and chewy texture. I preferred the plain lempeng, which didn’t have the extra grit from the shredded coconut. Try to get the anchovy sambal if you can – it was much better, in my opinion. We both had a coffee with our breakfast, an Americano (RM8) and a Caramel Latte (RM12).
Saturday Worthy?
I wasn’t expecting much from Dapur Yongs based on how it looked from the outside. Our lempengs were very tasty, and we also got a couple of kaya buns to takeaway that were similarly good. I could see us eating here again the next time we go hiking at Kota Damansara, but that is the only situation where we would return to Dapur Yongs.
