BlackBixon Cafe, Paradigm Mall

Posted on By The Perpetual Saturday No Comments on BlackBixon Cafe, Paradigm Mall

Prices, portions and quality at pre-pandemic levels.

Cafes at Paradigm Mall PJ, Pork free halal restaurants Paradigm mall

BlackBixon at Paradigm Mall is the third outlet of this relatively new cafe chain. They started gaining attention with their “Biggest Croissant in Malaysia,” which was featured in a local publication. Almost every restaurant nowadays is cheaping out with their ingredients yet raising their prices. However, BlackBixon appears to have shunned that practice and continues to serve tasty, filling portions at very reasonable prices.

Ambience & Amenities

Coffee shops at Paradigm Mall

BlackBixon looks like a generic cafe, albeit with a giant mural of a bison sipping coffee. Brown is the colour scheme here, with chairs and pillows in rich shades. There are more tables outside on a patio overlooking the Grab pickup area.

The nearest mall toilets are around the corner near the FamilyMart. Exit the BlackBixon and turn right to head down the corridor alongside the restaurant. There will be an area with escalators down on the left. The washrooms are to the left of the escalators.

Where to eat at Paradigm Mall

Hearty food is the backbone of the BlackBixon menu. There’s a mix of international food, from schnitzel to hummus, all pork-free. Be sure to check out the sweet cabinet at the front. It’s not just the same old croissants and brownies, there were many unique pastries in generous sizes. Speaking of generous, BlackBixon offers giant versions of items. For example, the Paradigm Mall location had advertisements for a giant cappuccino that looked bigger than a human head. Filtered water is free. There are large bottles at the server station that you can request or grab yourself.

BlackBixon Cafe and Restaurant review

The Crabby Burger (RM35) is an incredible price for a soft-shell crab burger. You don’t see value like this in 2024. Golden fried crab limbs peeked out from under the bun. The battered crab and the vegetables gave a gratifying crunch when biting into this burger. The sweet chilli crab paste hit my tongue first, but the kale and cabbage slaw brought a lingering flavour of cilantro and lemongrass – a citrusy element to balance the fried, fishy notes.

The Lamb Burger (RM33) isn’t as epic, but still worth ordering. The patty is the perfect shape and size for the other ingredients. The cabbage slaw was unseasoned, without the extra herbs in the crab burger slaw. The lamb patty had good flavour, but this burger was dangerously juicy. It was dripping before I had even taken a bite. I took out the slaw and ate it separately, which made it more manageable and allowed the lamb flavour to shine.

BlackBixon Review
Black Bowtie (RM15)

We were torn between this place or going to D’Italiane, but I’m glad we gave BlackBixon a try. The prices are at pre-pandemic levels, yet the food quality is excellent and the portions impressive. We ate here twice on this day, once for pastries and then again for dinner. If BlackBixon had a location in our neighbourhood, we would eat there all the time. I strongly recommend you to try BlackBixon Cafe & Restaurant out before they inevitably raise their prices or the food drops in quality. I’m betting the prices will be higher on my next visit to Paradigm Mall.

Price for 2 Pax: RM78.90

Lamb Burger: RM33.00
