Fiancée Cafe, Mont Kiara

Posted on By The Perpetual Saturday No Comments on Fiancée Cafe, Mont Kiara
Restaurants at The MET mont kiara

Fiancée Cafe was made for romantic dates. It’s got sweet pastries perfect for sharing and a permanent Valentine’s Day colour scheme throughout the restaurant. Anyone getting married soon (or who wants to drop huge hints to their partner) has to eat at Fiancée ironically. We’re still sad that we didn’t eat here during our engagement just for the memes.

Ambience & Amenities

There isn’t a bad seat in the house at Fiancée Cafe. Once you enter, there are bench seats along the windows to the left. The dining room on the right is visually stunning, and your eyes won’t know what to focus on first. The central circular booth is for exhibitionists, while the snug U-shaped booths in the corner are the most private tables. A red circular staircase leads to a raised dining area, perched half a storey above ground level. There are also a few tables on the patio with umbrellas for shade.

Where to eat The MET Corporate towers

There is no washroom at Fiancée. Exit the restaurant and turn left. Keep walking until you reach the tower entrance on the left. Once inside, head to the right. The toilets are down the corridor next to Brotani Juice. The washrooms inside the MET Corporate Towers are nicer than some hotels. They’re stocked with lotion, makeup remover, mouthwash and more – everything you need to freshen up during your date night!

Menu at Fiancée Cafe

Fiancée loves Italian food. Who can blame them? It’s a pretty romantic cuisine! The overwhelming majority of their mains are pasta and risotto dishes. Rounding out the menu are a couple of bagel sandwiches and all-day breakfast. However, during our Saturday lunch visit, many of the dishes were out of stock. The cabinets next to the register have pastries and cake slices that aren’t on the menu. Anyone who works at the MET can take advantage of Fiancée’s lunch sets. There are bottles of free filtered water near the order counter.

Food at Fiancée Cafe

Fiancee Cafe food review

The Cheesy Duck Pappardelle (RM36) was off Fiancée’s seasonal menu. It looked like a tiny amount of food, but the noodles are packed and piled, so it’s a reasonable amount. The majority of this dish was unpleasant, and it was a chore to eat. It arrived a little cold, and the sauce was a tasteless watery broth. I basically had to have a piece of duck on my fork, or it was an incredibly bland bite.

The Prawn Bisque Seafood Risotto (RM45) was piping hot, at least. It was surprisingly spicy as well. The overall flavour was palatable. However, I’m not convinced that the rice was proper arborio. I’m fairly certain the cafe used a less expensive alternative, such as Calrose, for this dish. I’ve been ghetto enough to make “risotto” with glutinous rice as a substitute, and the texture was exactly like this.

Saturday Worthy?

I don’t get the fuss about this place. It was illogically busy, considering the quality of the food. Maybe the coffee and pastries are better? Fiancée Cafe seems like a place where the main goal is to make your boyfriend overpay for lunch.
