Where to eat on Market Lane the exchange TRX Mall

Ignition by Wolf & Turtle Coffee is the offshoot of the artisan coffee chain with several locations around KL. While the other cafes focus on brunch, Ignition is the brand’s pizza and burger branch.

Ambience & Amenities

Ignition by Wolf & Turtle Coffee is located at the very end of Market Lane, occupying a small corner space in the shadow of the Uniqlo. It’s located at the opposite end of the Grab pick-up and drop-off point.

Usually smash burgers come from a hawker stall, but Ignition by Wolf & Turtle Coffee is much more refined than that. The restaurant’s interior has simple wood furniture. The various artworks on the walls don’t seem to have a cohesive theme, but they’re well-lit by the many light fixtures. There are a couple more tables outside, shaded by big umbrellas. Anyone sitting here can watch the comings and goings of Market Lane, but be prepared for passers-by to similarly stare at you and the delicious-looking burger in front of you.

Around the corner on the right (just out of frame in the picture above) is a hand-washing sink – a must for any burger joint. There are no washrooms, however, and guests have to use the facilities in The Exchange TRX Mall. Exit onto the patio and turn left. Keep walking along Market Lane until you hit a mall entrance on your left (next to Kapas). Once you enter, the toilets will be just ahead on the left.

If you’re coming here, it’s clear what you’re after. Ignition has a simple menu with six different burgers, but also comfort food favourites like pizza and hot dogs, all pork-free. Ignition likes to put its own spin on desserts, like pavlova. Their “drawer style tiramisu” is heavily advertised around the restaurant, the first of its kind in Malaysia, according to TikTok. Filtered water is free. Every table gets a big amber bottle and glasses when they sit down.

Food at Ignition by Wolf & Turtle Coffee

Ignition by Wolf & Turtle Coffee food review

As a double patty burger, I was afraid the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger (RM29) would be enormous, but it’s actually a manageable size. These are smash burgers, so the meat is a chaotic shape with a slightly crispy exterior. The beef patties remained juicy on the inside, with the paper wrapping catching the drippings as we ate. There’s just enough BBQ sauce to give a tangy, sweet flavour without getting sauce all over my face.

The browning and signature smash technique is more apparent on the Swiss Mushroom Burger (RM28). If you love the taste of meat and cheese without pesky vegetables getting in the way, this is the burger for you. Although the flavour was great, we questioned the quality of the meat since there was a large piece of gristle in this burger.

Saturday Worthy?

Ignition by Wolf & Turtle Coffee review

For a restaurant in the upscale Exchange TRX, Ignition is quite affordable. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a gourmet burger with fries for less than RM30. I wouldn’t say the food is mind-blowing, but if you’re a burger lover like us, Ignition by Wolf & Turtle Coffee is worth stopping at.

Price for 2 Pax: RM73.15

Swiss Mushroom Burger: RM28.00
BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger: RM29.00
Americano: RM11.00
8% Service: RM5.13
Rounding: RM0.02
